Emmanuel Church is a part of the vibrant Middlesex Area Cluster. Out-reach to the larger community is an important part of its mission. We invite and welcome people of all faiths to our intimate and spiritual Services.   As being part of the Cluster this gives Emmanuel church two unique factors.   First is Community churching whereby the lay community is constantly involved and integral to the congregation itself.  Secondly , is the amazing talents and wide spectrum of knowledge  that

the clergy that are involved the cluster bring to the "Little Church in the Wilderness".

Emmanuel Episcopal Church, “The little Church in the Wilderness” is listed on the Federal Register of Historic Places and one of Connecticut’s oldest houses of worship. The wood frame Church, beautiful in its simplicity, was built by a group of poor farmers in the early 1800s. It sits secluded in a woodsy hollow near Route 148.

The pure white interior is without embellishment, and the only ornamentation is a single stained-glass window and a brass chandelier. It seats 100 people.

In the early decades of the 20th century Emmanuel Church was revitalized by the Rev. George Gilbert, whose ministry was chronicled in his best-selling book, “Forty Years a Country Preacher.”

In 2001 we acquired a wonderful Karl Wilhelm Pipe Organ that now enhances our Sunday Services, weddings, Memorial services or any other occasion.

In 2002 we established THE FOUR SEASONS PLUS concert series. What better way to relax, focus on really important things in your life and turn inward, then to listen to beautiful music.  Come join us for...
